Teach IPM by Engaging New Audiences IPM is real-world science. It provides a fantastic opportunity to teach science in action—science as it applies to everyday life. Children learn to design and implement pest control methods that are economically, environmentally, and socially sound. Create K-12 Curriculum and Educational Resource Materials We create inquiry-based curricula that enrich the quality and quantity of K-12 science programs. They meet age-appropriate learning objectives and New York State and regional testing standards. Our IPM Education Resource Trunk is brimming with creative, interactive materials—student workbooks, displays mounts, games and CDs, wall charts, and more. These interdisciplinary materials bring together science, math, language arts, history, geography, art and social studies while targeting a range of learning styles. Our lesson plans and teachers’ guides are rooted in the biological and social sciences. They provide a progressive decision-making tree that helps children select the most suitable course of action for solving pest problems—whether at home, at school, or out in the community. Support Teachers and Students We understand that it is difficult for teachers to bring new topics into the classroom and teach them in fun and engaging ways, due to restraints in time, finances and resources. So we’re working with them—and for them—to provide information, curricula and resources to enrich their classrooms and reinvigorate science. Our IPM Education Resource Trunk is available to New York State’s classrooms through the NYS IPM Program. The IPM Community Educator supports teachers as they bring IPM into the classroom with teacher training workshops, professional development programming, one-on-one advising. Raise Funds and Form Partnerships We are dedicated to providing high quality materials that meet the needs of teachers, materials that are integrative and useful to them. We constantly fundraise and partner to maintain and improve the quality and quantity of our programming. Our partners include enthusiastic teachers who have been inspired by our program and want to be a part of it. We also partner regionally and nationally with school districts, private foundations, universities, scientists, educators and government agencies. |
