PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

Responsibilities

Debra supports the Community IPM program through field work and subsequently collecting and organizing data. She joined the IPM staff full time in October of 2002. Her position as field technician includes a wide range of responsibilities: scouting for weed infestation in athletic fields, trapping yellow jackets, surveying golfers and designing landscapes with native plants.

Current/Ongoing Projects

  • Regular update of Environmental Impact Quotients for turfgrass pesticides as well as the Cornell IPM for Greenhouse Elements

  • Treatment trial against Rhabdocline Disease in Douglas Fir

  • Assisting Cornell Golf Course in Audubon Sanctuary Project

  • Updating Cornell Vegetable IPM Guidelines’ online version

  • Assistance with classroom curriculum programs

Accomplishments (Past Two Years)

  • Establishment of a natives garden on the NYSAES Campus

  • Completion of a three year trial of alternative methods for School Grounds IPM

  • Planting and maintenance of a IPM Teaching Garden in Ithaca NY’s Conley Park

  • Assisting in establishment of a Best Management Practices guideline for private greenhouse owners
