Miller Farm, a greenhouse operation in Elma, New York, has been in business 25 years and is currently operated by three generations of Millers. Gerry and his father Harvey Miller are co-owners. Miller Farm consists of 20,000 square feet of greenhouse floriculture production, with a specialization in cyclamens. Products are marketed wholesale and direct marketed at the farm and at a local farmers' market.
Gerry uses least-toxic materials in his greenhouses and has employed a scout for the past three years. He utilizes biological controls, introducing predators and parasites into his greenhouses for whiteflies, fungus gnats, and mites. He is also helping to develop practical knowledge in the use of biopesticides to combat plant disease problems.
