Jim is a private consultant from western New York who primarily works with fruit producers. (No photo is available since he was unable to attend the award ceremony.) He may be the earliest adopter and developer of IPM strategies. In 1970 he enrolled in IPM training courses and interned in the apple IPM program, working as a scout for tree fruit in Western New York. He then started his own private consulting business, providing IPM services to fruit growers in Orleans County. Jim currently cooperates in all IPM strategy development projects that occur in his region and provides practical feedback to the scientists at Geneva and Ithaca. Jim is especially talented at balancing pest management requirements and strategies with grower needs in meeting market standards.
